Installing software in Mac

Windows users find difficult to install softwares in Mac OS. But learning and using softwares in Mac is pretty easy.

In Windows series of OS, there will an .EXE extension based installer available to install the program in our disk. Well, in Mac, we have .DMG files.

The installation procedure is as follows,

Download the application and place in the Desktop (if the apps are downloaded elsewhere).
Double click the .DMG file to open up.
Open the Finder application (that resides in the bottom-left dock).
Go to the “Applications” section in the left side of Finder and drag-and-drop the downloaded file into the selected section.
That’s all folks! Your application is installed.

Delete temporary files

Temporary files are files that are downloaded to your computer while surfing on the internet. Not only that, the files being used by the softwares are also hold the copies in the temporary folder, thereby, occupying too much space over the period of time.

In order to keep your system’s performance better as always, you need to delete the temporary files.

It is so easy as that. Simply follow the below two steps.

(1) Go to RUN and type TEMP and then hit ENTER.

The list of files located in your profile’s temp folder will come front of the screen. Just delete all the files.

(2) Go to RUN and type %TEMP% and then hit ENTER.

This folder occupies many temp files than the first step. Try deleting all the files. Often, some files by the name, Perflib_Perfdata_*.dat can’t be deleted. It is no harm and can be left out.

Some of the files, if used by softwares or any, will not be deleted. Such files can be left out. The problem is that, viruses may also exist here and can’t be deleted!
